The Pros and Cons of Mobile Computing

I've always enjoyed mobile computing or the capability to do computing tasks with my mobile devices anyplace. Mobile computing has given me the flexibility to multi-job and maximize my time. Unfortunately, it hasn't often been a great expertise.

Here are some of my good and poor observations in mobile computing.

The Great

  • Getting productive in the course of down time. Clearly, getting able to function practically anywhere is the greatest benefit of the mobile computing. There are times when you want to do some work when you have some down time, like when you are waiting for your flight, waiting for a person in a restaurant, and other waiting activities.

In the course of these times, it's reassuring to know that you can just energy on your mobile device and start out operating! The Poor

  • Rest time is no longer rest time. While we can do some tasks on our computers for the duration of our rest time or down time, it also takes away actual time for rest. Our minds and bodies want time to calm down and recharge, too.
  • Function-Life Imbalance can occur. This is an additional sad consequence of mobile computing. Due to the fact we can do our work anywhere, we tend to function at residence. When we do function from residence, or when we bring property our function, we eat up time we can spend for our family members, or for personal time. This imbalance usually outcomes in workaholism.
  • We become connected 24/7. As cool as it may perhaps sound, being connected 24/7 is not healthy. Becoming connected all the time can keep you up all night resulting in lack of sleep.
